Are there homes already built, or will I need to build a home? Depending upon your tastes and requirements, the builder may have a
spec home already built that can be finished in 30 to 60 days. In the event you don't like that particular floorplan, you would need to wait to have a home built which takes up to four to five months.
What about buying a "resale" or "pre-existing" home? For those of you planning on buying a resale home, you should plan on a trip out here 30-60 days prior to your move.
How long do I need to plan to stay in Colorado Springs to secure my new home? Most people that are coming to town to buy are spending 2-5 days to find a house.
What can I do with additional time I may have? The more days you have, the better the chance of finding exactly what you want. If you have some time left over, it's nice to be able to do a home inspection while you are here. If you buy a new home it's a good time to pick out the different colors that you want for carpet, brick, etc.

If you wait until you PCS here before you buy a house, you will be able to stay 15 days at the base TLQ. Since it normally takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks to process your loan and close on the home before you can move in, that means you will have to make some other accommodations like a hotel or motel for the remaining time.
